NEW | L’Oréal Smooth Sugars Face & Lip Scrubs

Hello lovelies!

I’m back again with another product review! This time it’s all about the new L’Oreal ‘Smooth Sugars’ range of face and lip scrubs. Has anyone else tried these yet?

I was rather excited when I heard about these because I was very impressed with their ‘Pure Clay’ mask range which was so highly praised by the masses. I was so curious to see if these would be as good so I had to get my hands on them ASAP. There are three different scrubs within the range – ‘Clear scrub’ (purifies, lifts blackheads), ‘Nourish scrub’ (softens, smooths) and ‘Glow scrub’ (polishes, boosts radiance). I picked up the Nourish scrub and Clear scrub as I felt these two were best suited to my current skin situation (they are suitable for all skin types) and addressed my main concerns (break-outs and dry skin).

Clear Scrub is a green, jelly like consistency with very fine sugars for exfoliating and kiwi seeds ‘for smoothing the skin’s surface’ (I personally think the kiwi seeds are a bit pointless) but I do love this as an exfoliator. It’s not too harsh, has a refreshing yet sweet scent to it and it left my skin feeling SERIOUSLY smooth. I used it a couple of times within a week and I did notice a huge difference in the texture of my skin and I also noticed some of blemishes clearing up. The scrub also contains peppermint essential oil which is known to reduce blemishes and lemongrass essential oil which is recognised for helping to purify pores.

Nourish Scrub looks a bit like chocolate! It’s quite solid at first but then turns into a creamy/oily consistency once handled. This contains cocoa butter, coconut oil and cocoa grains which play a key role in nourishing the skin, removing dead skin cells and protecting the skin’s barrier. I love this scrub for prepping the skin before make up. It really helped to banish my dry patches and help my foundation sit smooth all day. I especially like the fact that this product cleans/nourishes/exfoliates the skin all in one go. Also, I forgot to mention that all the scrubs are suitable to use as lip scrubs too but I think that in terms of use on lips, the Nourish scrub would be most effective. (My lips are quite sensitive so I haven’t tried scrubbing them with either of the scrubs because they get irritated and sore very easily.)

My favourite thing about the scrub range is that the sugar/exfoliant particles are super fine and so gentle. I love exfoliating but as my skin can get really sensitive at times, I need my products to always be gentle yet effective and I like that this product is just that.

I do have a few things that I dislike about the product also. The first thing I dislike is that it comes in a jar – a bit unhygienic as you have to dip your fingers in every time to use (a little spatula or something would’ve been helpful) and it can also be messy depending on which scrub you go for. The second thing that bothers me is how useless the kiwi seeds are in the Clear scrub. Lastly, I dislike the fact that it has artificial perfume/frangrance added for the scent. I mean, it’s not an unpleasant fragrance but it may be too much for some people.

In conclusion though, I do love these little scrub jars and I’m glad that L’Oreal have created something that can be used on the face and lips – multi-functional products that work are always a winner for me.

If you’ve tried either of these scrubs, or the Glow scrub then I’d love to hear your thoughts!

(Also, these are on sale right now in Superdrugs for £6.65 usual price £9.99 – click here for direct link.) Not an affiliate.

Lots of love,

Taslima x
