My ‘Go-To’ Summer Glow Make-Up

Hello Beauties!

Hope everyone’s well and enjoying the warmer weather. I love it when the British weather decides it’s alright for us to have a half-decent summer!

I personally don’t like tanning or exposing myself to the sun too much because it really doesn’t suit me. My skin is quite fair so I get kind of burnt easily or my skin just gets super itchy and I end up getting little heat spots all over my forehead and cheeks. It’s sad, I know, but even SPF 50 fails at keeping me safe! *Cries silently* Anyways, it doesn’t bother me too much because I can always fake it. I just use the right make-up and skincare to make myself feel all sun-kissed, golden and beautiful. To find out how I do this and what make-up I use, keep reading!

The key to glowing, healthy looking skin is obviously a good diet and a decent daily skincare routine. Keep yourself hydrated and moisturise to your hearts content! Well moisturised skin is the secret to a plump, smooth and glowing complexion. Before you begin your make-up make sure your face is cleansed, exfoliated and moisturised – very important if you want to look blindingly radiant.

Note: I apply all liquid products with my (clean) hands for this look as this really helps to blend the make-up into the skin and make it look seamless as the products are already body temperature when applied to the face.

Step 1: PRIME After finishing my skincare, I wait around five minutes or so and use my YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer to prep my skin for foundation. I love this primer for achieving a glowing complexion as it isn’t too heavy and it contains a light diffusing technology which makes it beautifully illuminating. It’s also important to wait a few minutes after applying primer, this lets it set on the skin and prevents any make-up applied on top from sliding around and getting messy.

Step 2: FOUNDATION I love my YSL All Hours foundation (it’s SPF 20 as well!) because it’s just perfect. It does claim to be matte but it really isn’t too matte so don’t let that scare you if you don’t like a matte foundation. It is a long-lasting formula and light-weight at the same time – perfect for all day wear. The coverage is also build-able and this is important to me as I don’t like heavy foundations.

Step 3: CONCEAL For concealer, I just use my Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer. I use this under my eyes and blend out with my fingers gently. I then use it to spot conceal any other areas where I need a bit more ‘help’ – again, using my fingers to blend. I love the versatility of this product.

Step 4: BRIGHTEN After all the basics, I use my YSL Touche Eclat highlighting pen to brighten my under-eyes, brow bone, around my mouth and nose and then blend until I’m satisfied with the look.

Step 5: SET I use my Chanel pressed powder to set my under-eyes and any areas where I don’t want my make-up to crease etc. I use a small setting brush to do this. It’s really important to not powder the entire face because that would prevent you from getting a dewy look as powder usually ends up mattifying everything.

Step 6: BRONZE I like to use a matte bronzer to add definition to my face and make my make-up look more natural. The bronzer I’m currently loving is the L’Oreal Back To Bronze – it smells gorgeous too! I use a big fluffy brush and dust it over all the areas where I would tan naturally. I also use a light amount under my cheekbones and jawline just to define my features a little bit.

Step 6 BLUSH My absolute favourite blusher right now is the L’Oreal Life’s A Peach blusher. It smells so sweet and peachy and just reminds me of summer. It also has a very subtle shimmer to it which I think is really pretty. I sweep this over the apples of my cheeks.

Step 7 HIGHLIGHT I really like using a liquid highlighter for achieving a glowing summer look. I also find it easier as I can just use my fingers to blend it into my face and the rest of my make-up. My choice of highlighter is the Marc Jacobs Coconut gel highlighter. I use this on the tops of my cheekbones, my brow bone, down the bridge of my nose and a tiny amount on my cupids bow.

..And there, we’re done!

When I do my face make-up like this, I just fill in my brows and keep my eyes and lips simple with a few coats of mascara and a natural lipstick. Also, I like to keep things simple so these are products that I personally use to achieve a glowing healthy make-up look – this look is obviously not limited to these products!

I hope this was a good read! Do any of you lovelies have any go-to products for achieving a gorgeous glow?

Also, come and say hello over on Instagram!

Love Taslima x
