Skinkissed Serum Review

Hello All and happy June!

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying summer!

I’m here to share my thoughts with you all on a facial serum that I was very kindly sent to review from Skinkissed UK. It’s a vitamin C serum containing hyaluronic acid and collagen. Now, this is my first vitamin C serum so I was super excited about seeing the results – I tried it out for just over two weeks before writing this review to make sure there was a visible difference to my skin.

The Skin kissed serum promises to:

  • Plump and hydrate the skin
  • Remove acne, scarring and blemishes
  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Reduce wrinkles and fine lines to create a more youthful appearance

Initial Thoughts

The packaging is very classy. The serum comes in a 20ml matte black, frosted glass bottle with a dropper cap. I did find the packaging quite appealing although the actual bottle didn’t come with a box or leaflet or anything. However, after placing my order, I did get all the information through by email, but I am a little old fashioned and would’ve preferred the traditional box and leaflet packaging to refer back to if I needed but I suppose it’s more eco-friendly this way.

I love the fact that the product doesn’t contain a billion incomprehensible ingredients. It’s formulated using powerful basic ingredients to target main skin concerns. The main ingredient is obviously vitamin C (acsorbic acid) which is combined with hyaluronic acid and collagen to help plump the skin, increase elasticity and create a more youthful, healthier appearance. I also like that it doesn’t contain any artificial colours or fragrance. In terms of fragrance, the serum contains rose water (also an ingredient which is very beneficial for the skin) which gives it a subtle scent. Another key point is that no part of the product is tested on animals.

The Product & Application

The serum itself is a clear liquid. It isn’t thick or heavy on the skin. It’s pretty easy to apply all over the face and neck as it just glides on. It is however a little bit sticky once it’s settled but a moisturiser over the top counteracts the sticky feeling so it’s no big deal. After application, it does tingle (a little or a lot depending on skin type) and skin does feel slightly irritated at first, however, this doesn’t last long and with continued use, the feeling disappears within a week or so. This is meant to be a sign that the serum is working.

How I used it

On the instructions, it said that the serum is to be used twice a day everyday, so this is what I did. I used about 2 full droppers every morning combined with my normal skincare routine and at night time after cleansing before bed. I also made sure I used sun protection everyday to help protect my skin further from any sensitivity or damage as I am new to using vitamin C. I did feel slight irritation after using it the first few times but this is fine as it stops after about 30 seconds and is not unbearable. Take note that I do have sensitive skin that flares up very easily, but this serum didn’t cause any issues for me so I can say that it would be ideal if you do have sensitive skin.

After using the serum for a couple of days, my skin felt a LOT softer and the textured parts of my face felt like they had evened out quite a bit but there wasn’t any visual results so I continued using it as I was eager to see if it reduced the slight pigmentation I had around my mouth area which I developed during my second pregnancy. After about a week my skin was visually smoother which obviously made me happier about using the product.

TOP: Before BELOW: After

I’ve included a picture of a before and after of my mouth area which is my main concern (note that I didn’t realise how tanned I was at the time of the first picture! Lol) – I took the pictures exactly 2 weeks apart in the same place at the same time of day in natural daylight to show you the actual results. You can see (ignoring the tan obviously) that my skin tone has slightly improved and I do believe that this will get better after continued use so I suppose I can say that I AM satisfied with the product and my results!

I don’t know if I will rush to buy this product again. It does retail at £29.95 so it is quite pricey but I think it’s worth it because of the combination of ingredients and it does seem like it will last just a little over a month. I do however want to shop around for the perfect serum before I settle on one as this was my first one. If you want to give it a go yourself you can purchase here.

I did really like the serum and would like to thank Skinkissed for giving me the opportunity to test it out. I hope you enjoyed reading and let me know of any other vitamin C / hyaluronic acid serums that are worth giving a go!

Keep in touch! – Say hello over on Instagram 🙂
